After an extremely long week, Saturday couldn’t get here fast enough! I couldn’t even sleep in I was so excited the weekend was here! I knew it would be a great day!
It started with 10 gorgeous miles with Jobi in Ridley Creek Park; while the temperatures were still cool (and the hill climb was no joke) it was awesome to spend the miles chatting with a friend! Not to mention the sun was in full force all morning.
After a hot shower, I spent some time stretching and rolling and doing the Oiselle Dirty Dozen. I then spent the afternoon catching up with a girlfriend over the best salads ever from Sweetgreen! Did you know they have an app? And you can order online, this makes it that much more addicting!
After a market trip with the hubs, we came home and cooked a our take on Pineapple Fried Chicken and Rice (recipe to come)!
In preparation for the Oscars, I had one more film on my list to catch up on. Since it still wasn’t available to rent we bit the bullet and bought “Brooklyn.” It was worth every penny.
In short is a love story, but it really struck a chord with me. According to IMBD: “An Irish immigrant lands in 1950s Brooklyn, where she quickly falls into a romance with a local. When her past catches up with her, however, she must choose between two countries and the lives that exist with.”
Sunday morning, I woke up early yet again and after taking Roma for a short walk, I got the best surprise in the mail from a sisterbird.
After a quick bite we headed to the park to embrace the beautiful February temps and sunshine!
Someone had the time of their lives.
I also had a chance to catch up with some of my best college girls over brunch. We went to the Columbus Inn in Wilmington, Del. and it was delicious. Not only was there an omelet station, but there was also a grilled cheese station AND a crepe station! Brunch is truly my favorite meal of the week, and it’s even better when it includes waffles, bacons, and the best conversation.
“A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow.” These girls will always have my heart.
Then it was on too preparation for our Oscars get together with the family! This year we opted to stick with our favorite apps for dinner including — chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, cheese cracker sandwiches, pretzels, and of course ALL the popcorn! Have you tried Chicago style? It’s dynamite!
I even made the most delish Red “Carpet” Brownies!
We each filled out pools to see who would win in each category! I started out slow but ended up coming in second place — Spotlight for the win! (I missed out on all the Mad Max wins — I just didn’t see that one coming).
Overall, I was happy to see Leo take home the gold man and Brie to take home lead actress. In our house we are routing heavy for Adam McKay’s The Big Short, but we also loved Spotlight. It was a great year in film!
How was your weekend? Did you watch the Oscars? What was your favorite part?
